The California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”) expands the Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and imposes specific obligations on businesses processing the personal information of California residents. Pursuant to the CCPA, Credit Sesame, Inc. (“Credit Sesame”, “Company”, “we”, or “us”) is required to provide its job applicants and employees, including contractors, interns, and other covered persons, who are California residents (“California Persons”) a notice, used at or before the point of collection of such personal information, that identifies the categories of personal information that may be collected and why Credit Sesame collects such information. This California Employee Privacy Notice (“Notice”) is intended to provide California Persons with the required notice.

Pre-Hire

Information We Collect

Listed below are the categories of personal information that Credit Sesame may process about employees:

a. IDENTIFYING AND CONTACT INFORMATION

Full name, sex, gender, gender identity, date of birth, physical address, phone number, signature, emergency contact, and email address. Credit Sesame may also collect supplementary information that is voluntarily submitted by an applicant via resume submission.

b. DEMOGRAPHIC DATA

Race, ethnic origin, marital status, disability, and veteran or military status.

c. EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL, OR EMPLOYMENT-RELATED INFORMATION

Academic qualifications, educational records, work history including job titles/positions, hire dates, and any performance or disciplinary records. Additional data that may be collected includes expected compensation, references, and links to personal platforms such as GitHub, LinkedIn, etc.

d. PROTECTED CLASSIFICATION CHARACTERISTICS UNDER CALIFORNIA OR FEDERAL LAW

Age, race, national origin, ethnicity, citizenship, marital status, physical illness, mental illness or disabilities, gender, sex, sexual orientation, and veteran status. Upon the offer letter stage, Credit Sesame will collect your social security number (“SSN”), passport and visa information, and/or immigration status and documentation.

Credit Sesame receives all or some of the above-listed information from third-party applicant tracking systems such as Lever, LinkedIn, and more.

Post-Hire

“Post-hire” occurs once an offer letter has been signed.

Information We Collect

Listed below are the categories of personal information that Credit Sesame may process about employees:

a. CATEGORIES LISTED ABOVE FROM PRE-HIRE STAGE
b. EMPLOYMENT RELATED INFORMATION

Profile summary about your workplace preferences such as home office, clothing size, dietary restrictions, characteristics, abilities, and aptitudes.

c. FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Banking details, tax information, payroll information, and withholdings.

d. HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION

Health conditions (if relevant to your employment), vaccination records, job restrictions, workplace illness, and injury information.

e. INFORMATION SYSTEMS INFORMATION

Search history, browsing history, login information, and IP addresses on the Company’s information systems and networks.

f. BIOMETRIC DATA

Biometric data is collected at the individual device level, but not retained by Credit Sesame. For example, a company-provided MacBook may utilize a fingerprint reader for TouchID as well as a Lenovo fingerprint reader/facial recognition for Windows Hello. Credit Sesame shall take reasonable efforts to reset all devices post-termination.

g. SENSORY AND SURVEILLANCE INFORMATION

Call monitoring, badge tagging, video surveillance, and COVID-related temperature checks.

h. GEOLOCATION DATA

Time and physical location related to the use of an internet website, application, device, or physical access to a Company office location.

i. PROTECTED CLASSIFICATION CHARACTERISTICS UNDER CALIFORNIA OR FEDERAL LAW

Age, race, national origin, ethnicity, citizenship, marital status, physical illness (includes pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and/ or related medical conditions), mental illness or disabilities, gender, sex, sexual orientation, and military or veteran status. Additionally, we will collect your social security number (“SSN”), passport and visa information, and/or immigration status and documentation.

Use of Personal Information

Credit Sesame collects personal information for various legitimate business reasons. We use the above information for a wide variety of human resource and operational functions, including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, onboarding, administering insurance and benefits, payroll, tax payments, leaves of absence, management and performance of employees, employee relations, requests for reasonable accommodation, investigating and enforcing compliance with potential breaches of company policies, and terminations. We also use and retain the above information to comply with public agency or law enforcement requests, as well as in litigation and compliance with legal requirements.

All information is retained indefinitely unless stated otherwise.

Sharing Personal Information

Personal information may be disclosed to third parties to enable Credit Sesame to carry out the human resource and operational functions set forth above, such as providing to our third-party payroll and benefits providers. In addition, when disclosing your personal information to third parties we take reasonable and industry-standard security measures to safeguard your data.

Credit Sesame does not sell personal information in exchange for monetary compensation or other valuable consideration and has not sold any personal information in the past twelve (12) months.
