Disney® Premier Visa® Card: The basics
Annual Fee: $49
Disney® Premier Visa® Card is tailored to people who spend a lot of time at Disney attractions or shopping in the Disney store. For eligible purchases made with your Disney® Premier Visa® Card, earn 2% in Disney Rewards Dollars on select category card purchases and 1% on all other card purchases, which can be redeemed at participating Disney locations for just about anything Disney-related.
The card has a $49 annual fee.
For a limited time qualifying new Cardmembers earn a $200 statement credit after spending $500 in purchases on your new card in the first 3 months from account opening (some restrictions apply). If you’re planning to use your card to book a trip to a Disney property, there is a 0% Promotional Annual Percentage Rate (APR) for the first six months following the purchase date on select Disney vacation packages as long as your account is not past due on the purchase date. After that Promotional APR period ends, and for all other purchases and balance transfers, the Variable Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is currently 18.24%, this APR will vary with the market based on the Prime Rate.
Disney® Premier Visa® Card: How does it compare to the competition?
Disney® Premier Visa® Card isn’t the only card you can use to earn rewards towards a Disney trip. We’ve included a few other rewards cards that are worth considering if you’re hoping to max out your rewards.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
Annual Fee: $95
Card features we want to mention:
- Earn 2X points on travel and dining at restaurants and 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases worldwide made on your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- Qualifying new Cardmembers earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 in purchases on your new card in the first 3 months from account opening
- 1:1 point transfer to select leading airline and hotel loyalty programs
- There are no foreign transaction fees
Among travel credit cards, in our opinion, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a major stand out thanks to its new Cardmember bonus as well as it’s travel benefits. We think one of the best things about this card is that you get 25% more value when you redeem your points for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards®. That means, for example, if you qualify for the 60,000 bonus points, those 60,000 bonus points would be worth $750 towards travel when you redeem for airfare, hotels, car rentals and cruises through Chase Ultimate Rewards®. This card also has an option to transfer your points on a 1:1 basis to select leading airline and hotel loyalty programs.
There is an annual fee of $95. At $95, the annual fee is higher than the $49 fee associated with the Disney Premier Visa® but Cardmembers, based on spending habits, may find it easy to earn that amount back in rewards and other benefits with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®
Annual Fee: $0
Card features we want to mention:
- Qualifying new Cardmembers earn Double Cash Back: earn 3% cash back on all purchases in your first year up to $20,000 spent. After that earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases.
- No annual fee
Earning 2% in Disney Reward Dollars is a great reason to charge your Disney vacation package to your Disney® Premier Visa® Card but you only have a small window for paying it off before the regular purchase APR kicks in. If you can’t pay it off within the 6-month promotional period, the interest charges could wipe out the value of the rewards you’ve earned.
We think Chase Freedom Unlimited® is an excellent alternative if you need more time to pay. This card offers you a lengthy 15 months to take advantage of a 0% introductory APR on purchases so you’ve got plenty of time to pay off your trip at a 0% introductory APR. There is a 0% introductory APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases and balance transfers, then a variable APR of 17.24% – 25.99%. Balance transfer fee is 3% of the amount transferred, $5 minimum.
With the Chase Freedom Unlimited® card earn cash back rewards on what you spend on purchases, without worrying about rotating bonus categories. Best of all, there’s no annual fee.

Earning rewards with Disney® Premier Visa® Card
The Disney® Premier Visa® Card rewards program pays Disney Reward Dollars on every purchase. You earn 2% in Disney Reward Dollars when you use the card to make purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants and most Disney locations within the U.S. that are solely owned and operated by Disney. That may include tickets to Disney parks, rooms at select Disney hotels and resorts, purchases at Disney park restaurants and shopping at the Disney Store or DisneyStore.com. Best to check the Chase website for more information on the 2% Disney locations. All your other card purchases will earn 1% in Disney Reward Dollars.
Redeeming Disney Rewards Dollars
Once you’ve accumulated some Disney Reward Dollars, it’s time to put them to work and you’ve got a few different options for doing so. For example, you can redeem rewards toward most anything Disney and Star Wars at most Disney locations, for example for tickets to a participating Disney theme park, a stay at a Disney resort or dinner out at a Disney restaurant. If you’re flying to a Disney property, you can use your rewards to cover the cost as a statement credit after booking your flight.
Disney® Premier Visa® Card pros
The Disney® Premier Visa® Card has a decent rewards structure for gas-and-grocery store spending consumers looking for a card specifically for Disney purchases.
Some of the nicest features of the card, though, are its perks designed exclusively for Disney lovers, like savings on select merchandise purchases of $50 or more at select locations at the Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts; savings on select dining locations most days at Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts; discount of the non-discounted price of select guided tours at Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts locations. Character experience Disney Visa Cardmember-exclusive photo opportunities with Disney or Star Wars Characters, held in private locations at the Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts. Restrictions and limitations may apply.
Disney® Premier Visa® Card cons
While the Disney® Premier Visa® Card can save you on Disney purchases, it’s not a good fit if you’re looking for more of an all-around travel rewards card. For that, you may want to consider something like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card instead.
The $49 annual cost isn’t a killer for the Disney® Premier Visa® Card but there are other cards that pay a comparable rewards rate without charging a yearly fee.
Should you get the Disney® Premier Visa® Card?
We’d recommend the Disney® Premier Visa® Card if you do a lot of spending at Disney each year, you’re able to pay your balance in full each month, or you want six months to pay off a qualifying Disney property purchase. If you want something that features a higher rewards rate, however, or doesn’t have an annual fee, we suggest taking a look at the other cards profiled in this article.
Before applying for the Disney® Premier Visa® Card or any rewards credit card, be sure to scope out your Credit Sesame free credit report card to get an idea of whether you’ll qualify. Just remember having a credit score in a particular range doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be approved for a credit card or if you’re approved what the terms that may be extended to you will be. Note, each credit card company uses many variables in the decision making process to extend credit, as well as using a variety of credit card scoring models.
And last, we recommend that you look at other rewards cards to see your options, and to find a card that is a fit for your needs. You can check out rewards cards from our partners by clicking here.
